In all likelihood, Kevin Durant should be the next big player traded in the NBA. But before he packs his bags to take on a new challenge, he reacted to the trade between the Grizzlies and the Magic for Desmond Bane. Always with a sense of humor, as he knows so well how to do.

What better way to kick off a summer that specialists are predicting will be eventful than with an unexpected trade? This Sunday, with the Finals between the Pacers and Thunder still in full swing, the Grizzlies and Magic decided to agree on a deal that raised more than a few eyebrows. Memphis triggerman Desmond Bane has been sent to Florida in exchange for Cole Anthony and KCP.

Orlando’s objective is quite clear: to form a trio of all-rounders with their new recruit, Paolo Banchero, and Franz Wagner. Add to that a hard-hitting point guard like Jalen Suggs, and you’ve got a group capable of making some noise in the Eastern Conference. For the Grizzlies, on the other hand, this decision looks more like an abandonment and a rebuild.

Kevin Durant reacts to the Desmond Bane trade

As we await the rest of the festivities, and potentially the moves of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant, reactions are pouring in from the NBA microcosm. The Suns winger, for example, who is the most watched name in the league, took to social networks with a viral comment. He’s the best at it, there’s no doubt about it.

The greeting between coach Jamahl Mosley and Desmond Bane was warm, to say the least. The two men slapped hands so hard that the fullback’s former team-mates no doubt heard it all the way from Memphis. The sequence made Kevin Durant laugh, and he too could meet the same fate in the coming weeks.

It now remains to be seen where the winger will put down his bags, perhaps to end his career. San Antonio? Houston? What’s certain is that he’s highly unlikely to be sent to Minnesota, as he couldn’t see himself making a long-term commitment alongside Anthony Edwards. At nearly 37, KD remains a superstar coveted by suitors.
