A wind of change is blowing through the NBA as trade rumors surrounding Kevin Durant intensify ahead of the 2025 Draft. Minnesota now appears to be leading the race—despite Durant’s supposed reluctance.

According to reporter John Gambadoro, the Suns currently view the Timberwolves’ offer as the best on the table. The proposed package would include Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, and potentially Rob Dillingham, the young point guard drafted by Minnesota in 2024. It’s an ambitious offer that shows the Wolves’ desire to pair Anthony Edwards with a superstar capable of pushing the team over the top.

Evan Sidery : “The Suns view the Timberwolves as their best offer on the table right now for Kevin Durant, per John Gambadoro. Minnesota’s package would feature Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo and potentially Rob Dillingham.”

Are the Wolves about to pull a Raptors-style gamble?

Despite Kevin Durant’s lack of enthusiasm for the destination—Shams Charania reports he’s not excited about playing in Minnesota—the Wolves’ front office remains aggressive. Rudy Gobert, long considered a defensive cornerstone, is now being floated in trade talks.

After a disappointing playoff run, particularly against the Thunder, the French center is no longer seen as untouchable. His early exit from the postseason, coupled with Naz Reid’s emergence, has forced the Wolves to reconsider their frontcourt hierarchy. Including Gobert in a Durant trade would be a strong sign of transition.

By adding Rob Dillingham, Minnesota also brings a future-oriented piece to the table. The young, explosive, and creative guard could slot into Phoenix’s rotation while fitting into a semi-rebuilding plan around Devin Booker.

Whether Phoenix accepts this proposal remains to be seen. Other suitors—particularly San Antonio, reportedly Durant’s preferred destination according to The Athletic—or Houston could still enter the fray. But the two-time Finals MVP’s days in a Suns jersey appear numbered, and Minnesota, despite the uncertainties, is playing its hand with conviction.
