Like many NBA players, Kevin Durant discovered a late passion for soccer, and Paris Saint-Germain in particular. He now considers himself a true fan, and spoke out following the Champions League victory.
It’s going to be an eventful summer for Kevin Durant, who is likely to discover a new and potentially final franchise in his career. Having arrived in Phoenix with the hope of winning a title and reinforcing his legend, KD will be packing his bags without having accomplished his main objective, and at the end of a season concluded by a non-qualification for the playoffs.
But what state of mind is he in when his name is being tossed around to different teams? The Timberwolves would like to make him the luxury lieutenant for Anthony Edwards, while the Rockets are convinced they can turn a corner thanks to his services. Still in Texas, the Spurs would like the No.35 to pass on his science to Victor Wembanyama, which seems to be of particular interest to him.
Kevin Durant pays tribute to PSG after victory
In short, while the situation could unravel at any minute, Kevin Durant doesn’t seem particularly stressed, as he’s currently following the Club World Cup in the USA. He paid a visit to his team of choice, Paris Saint-Germain, and even gave a short interview for the European champions’ Youtube channel. He talked about his connection with PSG:
I always try to do my best to support the team, but if I can’t be in front of the match, then I watch the score to find out what we’re doing. My spirit is always with the team, helping the guys. I’m really proud to be part of this project. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t make it in time to watch the Champions League final.
When I saw that we’d won, when I saw the celebrations in Paris and around the world, I understood the impact of that performance. It was cool to see. The Paris Saint-Germain brand is very widespread in the United States and has become more and more visible in recent years. I see more and more people watching soccer. When you think PSG, you think prestige here.
Like most Americans, Kevin Durant didn’t grow up interested in soccer. So, over the years, he discovered the world’s most popular sport, and thanks to his collaboration with Nike, he naturally turned to PSG. Even without watching every match, KD considers himself a fan and ambassador of Paris in the United States. He’s bet on the right club.
