LeBron James is preparing to play his final season, but the forward already has a few career change options in mind. According to the latest rumors, the King has made his choice… and it’s not as simple as that.

He’s now 40 years old, and next season will mark his 23rd in the NBA. LeBron James has spent more time in the big league than outside of it, but that relationship is likely coming to an end soon. It seems clear at this point that the Chosen One’s phenomenal career will end after 2025-26.

A savvy businessman, the four-time NBA champion has built a financial empire around himself. But knowing him, he’s unlikely to sit idly by once he retires. In fact, the chances of him taking on the role of consultant are increasing by the day, according to Front Office Sports:

LeBron James consulting after his retirement?

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire between LeBron James and Amazon. The growing business relationship between the basketball superstar and the nation’s largest retailer could lead to King James eventually joining Prime Video’s upcoming coverage of the NBA, sources tell Front Office Sports.

In fact, it’s not even that surprising, considering just a few weeks ago we learned that Michael Jordan would be joining NBC for the 2025-26 season. Having been at odds for years in the GOAT debate, the two legends could once again be adversaries… this time as consultants.

That said, LBJ already has experience in this field, having run the excellent Mind The Game podcast for over a year, where he showcases all his basketball knowledge. Seeing him join a team that includes Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, and his co-host Steve Nash would be particularly exciting. He himself said he was excited about the cast:

I think Amazon Prime Video, they’re going to do a great job showcasing our sport; [the talent] love(s) our sport. Great intellect, great commentary, great insight — I really look forward to that. And like I said, those guys that have signed up for it, they’re going to do great things.
