Tyrese Haliburton, who had already suffered a right calf strain earlier in the series, finally left the Finals with a serious injury in Game 7 against the Thunder on Sunday. This, after having been the subject of an outrageous speech by a famous journalist.

In the end, there was no ultimate feat. The hierarchy was respected on Sunday, in the decisive Game 7 of the Finals between the Pacers and the Thunder. Mark Daigneault’s men won at home (103-91), buoyed by a boiling-hot crowd, to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy. Their opponents, on the other hand, have one major regret.

Skip Bayless’ revolting theory about Tyrese Haliburton

The Pacers got off to a good start, with the help of Tyrese Haliburton. Despite the strained right calf he had been suffering from since Game 5 of this series, the star point guard already had 9 points after five minutes of play and looked set for a big performance. This aroused the suspicions of Skip Bayless, who was initially ironic on his X account:

Skip Bayless: Man, Haliburton looks SO HURT. That calf must be killing him. He’s limping back and forth across the court, isn’t he?

Somewhat bitter as an avowed Oklahoma City fan, the FOX Sports polemicist honored his status with another message suggesting… a conspiracy theory:

Skip Bayless: The Pacers brilliantly took the pressure of big games off the shoulders of Tyrese Haliburton, who is used to disappearing in these circumstances, by staging this injury excuse that the media all swallowed.

Problem: that assumption collapsed seconds later, at the same time as Haliburton himself collapsed on the Paycom Center floor.

In great pain, the two-time All-Star returned to the dressing room on one leg and never left. All the more reason to embarrass Bayless:

Skip Bayless: OK, Haliburton really looks like he’s hurt himself this time. I hope it’s not too serious. Unfortunately, this injury looks more serious than a simple calf strain.

A hunch that unfortunately proved to be correct, as he was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon. The famous American journalist expressed his anger… but he had already damaged his image enough with his previous messages:

Skip Bayless: HATE THIS FOR TYRESE HALIBURTON. ACHILLES, AS FEARED. SAME INJURY AS KEVIN DURANT AT THE 2019 FINALS, EVEN THOUGH KD HAD JUST MISSED A MONTH OF COMPETITION (9 MATCHES) WITH A CALF INJURY.
