Not 100% physically fit before Game 7, Tyrese Haliburton suffered a serious injury in the first quarter and will now be out for several months. Enough to make a former Indiana and OKC player lose his cool during the match.

The season could have ended with a bang, but it ended with a nightmare. Neck-to-neck with the Thunder heading into Game 7, the Pacers didn’t just lose, letting their opponents capture the NBA championship… They also lost their best player for a significant amount of time, perhaps even the entire 2025-26 season.

Playoff superstar Tyrese Haliburton collapsed in the first quarter. The ruptured Achilles tendon diagnosed for the point guard was a massive blow to him and his franchise against the best team of the season. He now faces a long recovery, hoping he can return to 100% of his abilities… Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was affected by it after the game:

Victor Oladipo furious during Game 7 of the Finals

My heart dropped for him. I couldn’t imagine playing the biggest game of my life and something like that happen

Sadness for some, anger for others, since Victor Oladipo has blown a fuse on his X account. The former All-Star and, incidentally, player for Indiana and OKC, said he was particularly frustrated by Haliburton’s misfortune:

In the Finals? So we just going keep playing right? Like its okay right? Like it ain’t happen huh? Like this is just part of it right? But what would this play off run be without Hali? What about Dame what about JT and so many others. I bet we will just blame it on the moment though lol and Hey he got millions right so he will be alright huh? So what truly matters? The Athlete?

It’s all good though. I promise you im going to be a part of this change. It doesn’t have to be a norm or just part of the game anymore in any sport. We can and will protect the players better. Yall enjoy the rest of the game though. Rest up Hali bro this will make you stronger.

The other players mentioned besides Haliburton don’t come out of nowhere…

Because before the Pacers star collapsed in Game 7, Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum had also suffered ruptured Achilles tendons during these playoffs. That means three of the league’s best players will be out for almost the entire next season… in the best-case scenario. According to Victor Oladipo, it’s high time to change things to protect athletes.
