Behind prodigy Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper is undoubtedly the most talented player of the 2025 crop. Good news for the Spurs, who should be lucky enough to get him back and team him up with Victor Wembanyama. Before arriving in Texas, the point guard introduced himself.
If there’s one thing the Spurs won’t do this summer, it’s cut corners. The Texans have been involved in numerous rumors since the end of the season, particularly those concerning Kevin Durant, and have not given in to the Suns’ high demands. They’re watching, they’re asking, they’re targeting talent, but they’re not going to mortgage their future to attract a big name.
Instead, as they’ve done for years and years, they’ll look for bargains on the market to create a talented roster capable of contending for the playoffs. For example, as free agency approaches, Guerschon Yabusele would be a name to watch in San Antonio, having demonstrated the quality of his chemistry with Victor Wembanyama during the 2024 Paris Games.

And then tonight, at the draft, the very talented Dylan Harper is set to join the Spurs and their ambitious project. But what can we expect from him? During his extensive media tour in New York, he was asked about it by Jeff Teague. It’s time for fans to get to know him, before supporting him for much of his career.
“I think my greatest quality is game organization. It’s an aspect that people don’t fully appreciate, but I feel I’m up there with the best. In all my teams, I’ve had to score points to have a chance of winning. But in pick-and-roll situations, I know how to make the right choice for my teammates, or to get to the preferential spots.”
“I’m a lot like point guards like Luka Doncic and Cade Cunningham. Cade is my favorite player in the NBA at the moment. From the moment I’m drafted, it’ll be different. I also watch SGA and James Harden, guys who know how to control the game and get to their spots. Overall, I’m a simple guy. I’m not the flashiest guy on the court or off it. I’m not going to do a fashion show before every game.”
In a few hours’ time, barring a huge turn of events, Dylan Harper will be Victor Wembanyama’s new team-mate. The good news is that he wants to showcase his passing and organizational skills, and the Frenchman will be the perfect partner for the job. But he’ll also have to deal with De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle, who will need the ball to express themselves.
