After another season that ended prematurely for their liking, the Warriors are likely to be busy this summer. However, given their limited financial margin, they may be forced to take a gamble that is far from unanimous.

The trade may have paid off at the end of the regular season, but it didn’t bring the expected results in the playoffs. The trade of Jimmy Butler didn’t get the Warriors past the semi-final stage of the conference, and they lost rather badly to the Timberwolves (1-4). More moves are expected from the Warriors in the off-season, some of which may come as a surprise.

A former 1st pick to the Warriors? The surprising idea causes a stir

Already active on the transfer market in the run-up to the trade deadline, Golden State could once again be active in the coming weeks. After all, the future of Jonathan Kuminga remains uncertain. The franchise should also pay close attention to free agency, and why not pick up… Ben Simmons. Monte Poole of NBC Sports suggests:

Monte Poole: “He may be the worst finisher in the league at the rim. He’s just awful at it. But hear me out. He’s 6 foot 10, 240 pounds, retains some of the athleticism considered exceptional at the time and remains a solid, volatile defender. He started out in the NBA as a point guard but transitioned to a center, finishing last season as Ivica Zubac’s backup at the Clippers.”

“If Simmons wants to have a season of redemption, he could prove to be a good value for the Warriors.”

Not necessarily in the limelight since his arrival at the Clippers, Simmons would nonetheless be a target for the Dubs to consider, according to the American insider. And while some fans share this opinion, others reject it outright:

@goatziemski: « I don’t hate it »

@nomoremediocre_: « Hell. No. wtf 😂 »

@amzngchrztn: « Good move tbf »

@MRGAMETIME: « 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ »

And it’s not clear whether the recent images of the Australian in training are enough to bring everyone to the same conclusion.
