After a complicated season with the Sixers, Paul George’s future is uncertain. If he is likely to be traded, he could also stay and aim for the title with Joel Embiid. He could also evolve with Ace Bailey, whom he has just destroyed in his podcast.
Before making their selections at the draft, and even more so with high picks, franchises don’t just look at a player’s qualities on the field. To get your name on the ball, you need talent and the right physique. So what can make the difference when two prospects have a similar level is attitude.
A less promising player, for example, can gain a few places if he demonstrates a fine sense of team spirit, is eager to learn and is open to any suggestions from a coach. Conversely, a nugget can scare franchises by arriving with an assertive ego and a clear idea of his role in the NBA. Ace Bailey could soon find out.
Paul George gives Ace Bailey a serious warning
Once touted as a serious contender for Cooper Flagg at the top of the 2025 draft, he’s been making one mistake after another in recent weeks. In particular, he refused to work out with the Sixers, as the directors did not want to make him the promise of selecting him with the 3ᵉ pick. Paul George, who may play with him, has just reframed him in his podcast.
“If I’m Ace Bailey, I can’t be surprised if my name falls low in the draft. He canceled all his workouts, not just the one with the Sixers. The reason it caused a stir with us was because he canceled the same day. You’re not in a position to make demands like being the #1 option. You have to get into the league first. I think that comes from his entourage.”
“I’m afraid the draft is a humbling experience for him. He’s acting like a young man who’s already got a lot of money in college. He’s got money, so he thinks he can control his destiny. And then, in the NBA, teams work. All the franchises have already spoken with his teachers, with the coaches he faced in high school. The franchises work. Here, he’s putting himself ahead of the team, even though he doesn’t yet have a team.”
Paul George may have faded with the Sixers, but he’s still a former superstar who knows how the NBA works, who knows how to behave when you’re the face of a franchise. And according to him, Ace Bailey’s behavior, when he’s not even in the league yet, is likely to play nasty tricks on him. Reality could bring him back down to earth.
