After a very low-key first night, the Lakers have made some great deals in the second round of the draft and on the market for unselected rookies. For example, young Adou Thiero is already inflaming fans with his outstanding athleticism.
Rob Pelinka was under pressure after the first round of the draft, so he tried to make up for it on Thursday. It has to be said that, on this gala evening, the Lakers are the only franchise in the league not to have selected anyone or participated in any trade. After yet another elimination at the start of the playoffs, fans couldn’t understand this passivity.
If there’s one thing you can’t take away from the Purple and Gold, it’s that they know how to find value with low picks and on the undrafted rookie market. This is the case, for example, with Austin Reaves, who is now establishing himself as a leader behind LeBron James and Luka Doncic. Who knows, perhaps the NCAA’s leading scorer, signed overnight, will follow in his footsteps.
The viral video of the Lakers’ new star
Because the franchise has moved up the draft order to take him in the second round, there will also be anticipation surrounding University of Arkansas star Adou Thiero. Considered to be an excellent defender and the most athletic player of this year’s crop, the winger could quickly earn himself some playing time. He showed off his qualities in a viral TikTok:
“I think I found a cheat code bro… if you don’t got a girl to give you a kiss, just give the rim a kiss” 😭

“I think I found a cheat code. If you don’t have a girlfriend to kiss, kiss the hoop.”
It’s not for nothing that Adou Thiero is considered an athletic freak. For the sake of a TikTok video, he’s showing the entire NBA microcosm that he’s capable of putting his head in the circle without forcing it. With LeBron James and Luka Doncic at the helm, he could be on the receiving end of many alley-oops and counter-attack balls.
