It’s this Wednesday night that the series between Minnesota and Los Angeles continues, with a chance for the Wolves to advance to the next round. But the Lakers are looking to respond — and they might be getting some extra help.
The playoffs continue this Wednesday night, and the matchup between the Wolves and the Lakers will be under close watch. It’s the first opportunity for Anthony Edwards and his teammates to punch their ticket to the next round, but with the game taking place in Los Angeles, it won’t be easy.
That said, Chris Finch’s squad has already won in the City of Angels, and you can bet they’ll give it everything they’ve got. All eyes are especially on a potential response from LeBron James and Luka Doncic, who certainly don’t want to bow out like this. As for the fans, they’re demanding changes from head coach JJ Redick, who is under pressure.
A surprise in store for the Lakers?
Redick has been stubborn and has made quite a few questionable decisions. He exhausted his starters in Game 4 by playing them the entire second half, and his management of Jaxson Hayes has sparked debate. Hayes is barely playing, despite LeBron publicly asking for more minutes for the big man. His plea has gone unheard.
But heading into Game 5 — with the Purple and Gold on the brink — the coach doesn’t have much of a choice anymore: he has to try something different. Dorian Finney-Smith could be inserted into the starting lineup in place of Hayes, while the rotation may also shift. In fact, a return might be brewing behind the scenes.
@LegionHoops: “The Lakers have upgraded Maxi Kleber’s status to questionable for Game 5 against the Timberwolves. Secret weapon?”
Kleber has been sidelined since arriving in the Luka Doncic trade, having undergone foot surgery. He had hoped to return for the playoffs, and now being listed as “questionable” marks progress — meaning he’s close. While his return might not drastically alter the course of the series against the Wolves, he would still be a valuable piece, especially given the Lakers’ current situation in the paint.
A return could be on the horizon for the Lakers, though it’s not confirmed for Game 5 just yet. Another weapon for JJ Redick, who urgently needs to make adjustments if the team hopes to reach the second round. Meanwhile, fans are still holding onto hope.
