Luka Doncic was recently spotted with his managers, shortly after the Lakers’ elimination from the playoffs. A good sign for the franchise and its future? Fans are convinced, although we’ll have to wait for confirmation.
With the Lakers eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, the organization has a long summer ahead of it, with some important decisions to be made. For example, a pivot will have to be recruited to help out in the paint, while LeBron James will also have to be dealt with. He can become a free agent by declining his player option, and from there, anything is possible.
Then there’s Luka Doncic and his contract extension. We don’t know if the Slovenian has made up his mind, but officially, he has shared on multiple occasions his happiness at having landed in Los Angeles. He loves the city, the fans, the atmosphere and the organization. So there’s no reason to believe in another trade or a move to the Nuggets with Nikola Jokic, for example.
Luka Doncic’s future more decided than ever?
It’s hard to say, especially as the Doncic trade in February reminded us that this league is first and foremost a business. There’s no mercy in the race for the title, even if the Angelinos have repeated several times that Luka is the new face of the Lakers. This was confirmed at the end of the week with an interesting video.
Doncic was spotted leaving a restaurant with coach JJ Redick and GM Rob Pelinka. It’s unclear whether the three men discussed tactics, recruitment or contract extension (perhaps all three subjects), but it mostly looked like a business meeting. Is this enough to reassure fans about Doncic’s future?

Impossible to know more at the moment, but Doncic’s extension in Los Angeles seems pretty logical right now. The elimination doesn’t change anything and the Slovenian seems determined to win something in LA. Promising for the fans.
