Now on vacation, LeBron James can do almost anything he wants. Injured, he was unable to attend an event on Monday evening, but his message of apology was quick to strike fear into the hearts of many fans.
Eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, LeBron James failed to reach his goal with the Lakers. A real disappointment for the Akron native, although he should be back for next season with potentially one last NBA campaign. For some insiders, it’s not impossible that he’ll continue even with two more seasons.
For the time being, Lakers fans are mainly expecting improvements over the summer. The roster needs help with a true pivot, as LeBron and Anthony Davis have called for in the past. The King will be watching this closely, as he can now take a breather after suffering an injury in Game 5 against the Wolves. And he wants people to know.
LeBron James confirms his injury… and his absence
Reminder: the King injured his knee against the Wolves, so he probably wouldn’t have been able to continue playing in these playoffs with the Lakers. A major problem, since James was unable to attend the MetGala on Monday evening alongside his wife, Savannah. So he posted a message on Twitter… causing a bit of a ruckus.
@KingJames : “Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss an historical event! My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!”
A simple apology for James, who took the opportunity to point out that he was indeed injured and… scare a lot of fans with the beginning of his message.
@lockedbyae : “Thought this was a retirement post”
@burnergpt : “He had to let the world know why he lost 4-1 and keep up with the narrative that he’s injured”
@knicks_union : “Bro chill i thought you were announcing your retirement”
No retirement for James, at least not in the immediate future. And even when the time comes, we imagine he’ll announce it in something other than a simple message on Twitter. Barring a turn of events, James will return to the Lakers in the autumn, still intent on winning another championship. An ideal way to end his career on a high note and continue to leave his mark on the history of the sport.
