When the Lakers decided to bring Russell Westbrook to Los Angeles in 2021, the point guard was coming off another triple-double season, proof that he still had fuel in the tank. What’s more, this return to his hometown would enable him to end his career in a favorable environment in which he would be perfectly fulfilled.

Unfortunately for him, what was supposed to be a dream ending quickly turned into a nightmare.Russ became the fans’ scapegoat, and with each defeat, it was to him that all eyes turned. His family was sometimes taken to task in the stands, and he was nicknamed “Westbrick”, so it’s safe to say that he won’t have a wonderful memory of this adventure.

I haven’t talked to LeBron in I don’t know how long.

LeBron James and Russell Westbrook are clearly things of the past. The two former MVPs haven’t been on speaking terms for some time now, which isn’t all that surprising. The point guard undoubtedly wanted to turn the page on the Lakers once and for all following his departure.

It’s a good decision for the man who’s coming back to life in Denver. Guilty of some big mistakes during the regular season, he’s in pretty good shape for the playoffs. After a serious first-round performance, Westbrook was again very strong against the Thunder on Monday. With 18 points scored, he was the Nuggets’ X-factor in the victory.
