Stephen Curry, who suffered an injury in Game 1, could miss several games with the Warriors over the next few days. In a press conference, Steve Kerr gave some news and didn’t exactly reassure.
Despite a fine victory in Game 1, it’s not clear that the Warriors are really happy at the moment. The franchise lost Stephen Curry to injury and no one knows yet when he’ll be able to return, especially after a strained adductor muscle. In fact, the franchise has him listed as “day-to-day”, which means the doctors are no further ahead.
This means Curry could return as early as Game 2, or… not return at all in these playoffs. Further tests are scheduled this Wednesday for the point guard to get an update, especially as the rest of this series against the Wolves continues very quickly. And without the Chief, Golden State will have to rely mainly on Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield.
Warriors in doubt without Steph Curry
As for Steve Kerr, he’s already expecting to be without his point guard for Game 2. The injury is serious and it is highly doubtful that the medical staff will allow him to return quickly, as the risk of relapse is high with this type of problem. So we have to assume that Curry will miss at least one game, but it’s far from over for the time being.
Steve Kerr : “Yes, we expect him to be unavailable for Game 2. We don’t know yet, but because of his adductor muscle, it’s hard to believe he’ll be available for this game. We’ll see how we can replace him in terms of scoring. They need a day. Our guys are tired with all this. The coaches will get together tomorrow and we’ll come up with a plan.”
Logical for Curry, who is suffering from an injury that’s quite problematic for any player. He could return as early as Game 3, depending on the severity, but the Warriors prefer to prepare for a series without him in the immediate future. Hield, Butler, even Draymond Green – they’ll all have to be prepared to raise their game in this series.
Butler is the first to be aware of this, especially as the Dubs gave themselves a fright without the presence of their player in the second half. To give themselves the best chance of dominating the Wolves, they’ll have to hope for some good news regarding Curry.
Jimmy Butler on Stephen Curry: “We want him back, I can assure you. It’s really hard to play without him.”
