Injured against the Wolves in Game 1, Stephen Curry still doesn’t know if he’ll be able to return in this second-round playoff series. An insider has shared an early return, and let’s just say he’s not very optimistic at this stage.
After a few problems in the regular season, to the point of falling in the play-in round, the Warriors nevertheless managed to qualify for the second round of the playoffs. Jimmy Butler has clearly turned the team’s fortunes around, while freeing up Stephen Curry. The result was evident against the Rockets, inspiring a great deal of confidence among the fans.
Except that Game 1 against the Wolves may well have changed the outcome of this series, or at the very least its course. While the Dubs won with great energy on the floor, Steve Kerr’s men lost Curry to injury. An adductor problem for the point guard, who suffered a pulled muscle according to his franchise.
Steph Curry out for a while?
And it’s not a desirable injury at this stage of the competition. Depending on the severity, Curry could easily miss several weeks, although the MRI will tell us more. He is due to undergo it today, and according to Brett Siegel, the initial feedback is not very positive.
It’s hard to get too many details at this point, but according to the insider, the Warriors are already preparing to play several games without their point guard. Depending on the results, he could even miss the rest of the series. The adductor is often at risk of relapse, so the medical staff won’t be taking any chances with his health.
@BrettSiegelNBA : “JUST IN: The Warriors are bracing for Stephen Curry’s hamstring injury to be a multi-game absence, league sources told @ClutchPoints. More updates to come later today when Curry’s MRI results come back.”
It’s obviously not the comeback the franchise and fans want, but it’s hard to expect anything else. An adductor injury is usually problematic for a high-level player, which means Curry is likely to miss some time either way. Jimmy Butler and his partners will therefore have to find the best way to make up for this absence.
