Quoted to the Lakers recently by an insider, Giannis Antetokounmpo is at the heart of discussions with his future. But if he were to join Los Angeles, the quid pro quo would have to be significant. Fans have imagined just what it might look like.

The future of the Bucks is likely to be decided in the coming weeks. The franchise could continue to fight for the title, or Giannis Antetokounmpo could jump ship with major repercussions for the rest of the squad. A meeting is scheduled soon to discuss his future in Wisconsin, and the outcome remains a mystery.

Milwaukee went out the door in the first round of the playoffs, the Kyle Kuzma trade was a failure, while Damian Lillard will miss many long months after his serious injury, all at a hefty salary. So many reasons to be worried about the future of this organization, which will have to fight hard to try and convince Giannis to extend his stay.

What’s in it for Giannis Antetokounmpo?

At the same time, it’s also possible that the Greek Freak wants to stay on his own. We know his attachment to Milwaukee and his desire to win a second title there. That’s enough to keep fans hopeful, although others are already considering the best possible quid pro quos to get the player back in a trade.

The Lakers have been mentioned recently, not least because according to Howard Beck, he wouldn’t mind joining a big market like Los Angeles. But what would he have to send in exchange? Can the Angelinos afford it?

@iDude14 : “If Giannis Antetokounmpo requests his trade to the Lakers, what package should the franchise send?”

@BlessedOrri : “Austin Reaves, Maxi Kleber, Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Shake Milton, Jaxson Hayes, Dalton Knecht and our first round of 2031 for Giannis.”

@pbp_Rich : “Everyone is available except Luka Doncic.”

@JRock30331 : “They just don’t have the package for it.”

Given the first offer, needless to say, the Bucks would never accept such a package. Finally, the Lakers may not have what it takes, not after Doncic’s trade to the City of Angels. If Giannis asks to leave, then we imagine it’s another franchise that will have his favor. And it’s fair to say that many teams will be interested in him.
