The Timberwolves are obviously disappointed with their Game 1 loss to the Warriors. And while some of their players made a mess of things, the coach is also angry about the refereeing. And that includes Rudy Gobert.

Despite an injured Steph Curry in the second quarter, the Timberwolves were unable to take advantage of this to take the lead in Game 1. They had come back to within 10 points in the final moments, but Chris Finch’s men were clearly lacking in success. Rather worrying for the fans to start this series.

Anthony Edwards disappointed heavily with a major fumble, but Minnesota received some good news on Wednesday. Curry is injured for at least a week, which will give the franchise an edge. We’d have liked the Chief to be there, of course, for the show, except that this injury has decided otherwise. And it’s bound to have repercussions on this series.

Nonetheless, this defeat caused quite a stir in the Wolves dressing room. Finch has already called for more effort from his players, especially for a playoff match. But according to the team’s coach, the refereeing was clearly not up to scratch in Game 1, particularly when it came to dealing with Rudy Gobert in the paint.

Unhappy with the Warriors’ energy and attitude in the paint, Finch confirms that the Wolves sent videos to the NBA complaining after Game 1. They feel that Gobert is being heckled too much in the paint and that the officials are doing nothing at all. They’re hoping for a change for Game 2.

Chris Finch after Game 1 : “The Warriors make a lot of fouls, often holding, pushing or shoving Rudy Gobert. It’s very clear. We’ve sent some of these clips to the league. I don’t know another player like Rudy who gets pushed around like that.”

Not sure it will make much difference in the end, especially as the Warriors have a similar opinion of their own, with criticism of the refereeing. Gobert and his partners will have to make do and hope for a different outcome with Game 2. And without Curry around, it’s Minnesota who find themselves under some pressure in this series.
