Responsible for the Luka Doncic trade, Nico Harrison continues to make news after the Mavericks’ elimination, and always for the wrong reasons. It looks like the GM may have lied to reporters a few weeks ago.

Standing in front of their TV screens watching the playoffs, the Mavericks have been eliminated for some time now. The franchise managed to qualify for the play-in, yes, but let’s not forget that Dallas was in the NBA Finals last season, which means this campaign will remain an abject failure no matter what. And the man responsible for all this is, of course, Nico Harrison.

After all, it was he who contacted Rob Pelinka to suggest the idea of welcoming Luka Doncic to Los Angeles. He then convinced his managers that it was a good thing, for the outcome we know today. We’ll have to wait and see, but let’s just say that the fans in Dallas aren’t confident and are still calling for his dismissal, or resignation.

Nico Harrison at the heart of yet another controversy

It has to be said that every time we’ve heard about Harrison in recent months, it’s been for bad news. The Luka Doncic trade, his discussions with journalists where he made more of a fool of himself than anything else with his justifications, the proof with Tim MacMahon’s new story on ESPN this Wednesday. There’s been a change in Dallas.

After a campaign marred by injuries to Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford and many others, the Mavs are making a change. Nico Harrison has decided to fire quite a few people internally in order to hire a new staff. Here’s what the journalist explains on his Twitter account.

@espn_macmahon : “Sources: Mavericks GM Nico Harrison is making major changes to the team’s health and performance group again. Among the dismissals: athletic performance director Keith Belton, Harrison’s hire last summer; and head athletic trainer Dionne Calhoun.”

A few weeks ago, MacMahon asked Harrison about his dismissals last summer of highly respected members of the medical staff. The GM defended himself by simply explaining that he had hired better people. With this new decision, it turns out… not. A new choice by the GM that’s back in his face today.
