We’re expecting movement from the Lakers over the summer, but how much exactly? Is Rob Pelinka planning to make a lot of trades? It’s quite possible, as the aim remains to surround Luka Doncic in the long term.
The Lakers haven’t been too happy in recent days. The team’s ambition was to win the championship, led by Luka Doncic, but they fell to a stronger team than the Timberwolves. Unfortunately, there are gaps for the Angelinos today, and not just a few since the loss of Anthony Davis.
Without the interior, and knowing that the Lakers have never recruited a pivot to replace him, it’s hard to dream. The franchise did its best in the playoffs, but Rudy Gobert was too strong on the other side. We could point the finger at JJ Redick, who refused to trust Jaxson Hayes in the first round. The fans remain bitter on the subject, although a reinforcement is necessary.
What a summer for the Lakers?
Daniel Gafford and Nic Claxton have been mentioned in Los Angeles as possible additions to the roster in the coming months. We understand that the priority is to surround Doncic in the future, and we have to believe that Rob Pelinka is already thinking about several strategies. But according to Sports Illustrated, we can expect some action in the coming weeks.
A pivot, yes, but we already know that the Lakers are also targeting a good defender this off-season. Fans should simply remember that the franchise should be aggressive, as there’s no question of sitting back with Doncic around. Let’s not forget that their assets are limited despite high ambitions.

We know a pivot is coming, but that’s probably not Pelinka’s only wish at the moment. The truth is, the franchise needs a lot more to get back to the top of the Western Conference and especially to perform in the playoffs. Having a great superstar is great, but now you have to surround him with good players to win the title. And not everyone can do that.
