NBA – Disastrous revelation about the Mavs: “The definition of having no future”

Deprived of Luka Doncic for good, Dallas must rethink its future without the Slovenian superstar, who now represents the Lakers. But that’s easier said than done, given the roster situation and his current contracts.

Some franchises will have to be much more active than others this summer, as they have so much to do to get back on track. This is certainly the case for the Mavericks, who are starting a new chapter after the departure of Luka Doncic. If the roster had been designed around the new Laker for more than six years, all of that must now be thrown out the window and rethought from the ground up.

The priority seems to be keeping their two superstars, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, for as long as possible. Given the crisis the franchise has been going through since February, it wouldn’t be surprising if they wanted to leave… The good news (if you will) is that the point guard isn’t expected to go anywhere while he recovers from a serious knee injury. His trade value is practically at rock bottom.

The Mavericks in a complicated salary situation

However, the Mavs still need to make significant changes to their roster, and that won’t be easy, given their limited expiring contracts. Almost all players are signed for at least another year, and a trade would inevitably mean losing crucial players. On the other hand, the X account NBA Film pointed out the problematic roster structure:

The Mavs are a franchise setup for mediocrity. Anthony Davis is old and can’t stay healthy. Kyrie Irving is old and coming off an ACL tear. Klay can’t play defense and was signed just to shoot with a facilitator that no longer exists. PJ is a PF being forced into a SF role. Gafford will want a pricey extension.

Lively’s cheap years were wasted by injuries and poor trainers + trading Luka. This team is the definition of no future.

An analysis that is quite complicated to contradict in fact and which deeply disgusts Dallas fans, who were dreaming of the title just a few months ago:

@MFFLLUKA77 : We really did this to ourselves for no reason lmao. It’s hard to fathom.

@KeithArbitrary1 : This would be a title contending team with some health, luck and Luka Doncic.

@JamesDestined : On the bright side they one Davis injury away from being in a fight for number 1 draft pick next season
