True to form on Wednesday’s Inside The NBA, Shaquille O’Neal deciphered the final match-up between the Timberwolves and Warriors. It was also an opportunity for him to give a new pseudonym to his long-time whipping boy, Rudy Gobert.
In a few months’ time, he’ll be operating on ESPN. In the meantime, Shaquille O’Neal continues to delight TNT. A long-standing employee of the famous American network, the legendary pivot boosts its ratings with his secret analyses. For instead of going into highly technical detail, he prefers to use his sense of punchline to comment on NBA games.
This sometimes involves frontal attacks on the league’s stars, which soon make the rounds on social networks. Just ask Rudy Gobert, unappreciated by his prestigious elder and victim of this phenomenon on numerous occasions during his career. However, the Frenchman also receives compliments when his performances command respect, as was the case this Wednesday.
Shaquille O’Neal takes a rare bow to Rudy Gobert
Up against the Warriors in the last few hours, the Timberwolves had the opportunity to put an end to this series on their own floor. But they got off to a flying start, leading 62-47 at half-time. This was thanks in no small part to Gobert’s impeccable skill (5/5 shooting, 11 points), which Shaq praised with his characteristic humor on Inside The NBA :
Shaquille O’Neal: I expect Anthony Edwards to go up (in the second half), but it doesn’t matter anyway when you’ve got Julius Randle and Rudy Abdul-Gobert by your side. Yes, that’s his new name. We’ll have to change his last name.
So it would seem that Rudy has recalled the illustrious Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Diesel during this first half.
Renamed accordingly, the French international has amused Internet users with his new identity:
@En_Solana : Lmao 🤣
@NightcapCrimes: 😂😂👏 He’s earned it so much he plays well!!!
@motto21547425: 🤣 Stop it Shaq.
@TraGamer16: If he somehow manages to perfect his skyhook, we might even nickname him the French Hook
However, all this didn’t faze him, as he continued his fine form in the second half (6 points, 5 rebounds, 3/4 shooting) and made a decisive contribution to the Wolves’ 121-110 victory, synonymous with qualification for the next round.
