Still faithful to his role as an analyst for TNT, Charles Barkley recently spoke about the Giannis Antetokounmpo dossier. In doing so, he revealed the deal he finds most tempting… and expressed a certain annoyance with the soap opera.

More often than not, he’s busy deciphering the games broadcast by his employer on Inside The NBA. He also occasionally jokes with his compatriots, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith, on basketball-related subjects. In addition, Charles Barkley sometimes reacts to major transfer rumors that are stirring up the league. So it’s only logical that in the last few hours, he’s mentioned the case of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Charles Barkley’s two-faced take about Giannis

Once again defeated and eliminated in the first round of the playoffs with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo is reportedly questioning his future with the franchise. This information is bound to cause a stir in the NBA, where the Greek’s profile is attractive to a number of rival teams. However, according to Barkley, if Milwaukee were to open any negotiations, it would be with… the Mavericks:

Charles Barkley: If I were Milwaukee, the first phone call I’d make would be to Dallas. Because if Cooper Flagg goes there, does that make the Mavericks title contenders next year? In any case, it would be a good way for Milwaukee to kick-start their rebuild.

As you may have guessed, the former MVP would like to see the Bucks get Cooper Flagg in exchange for Giannis.

The future No.1 draft pick would represent a fine foundation on which to build a new project. If such a reconstruction were to be initiated. As for Jalen Rose, he hopes that the Greek Freak will continue on his path in Wisconsin:

Jalen Rose: I’ve always had more respect for the players who stayed where they became great players, MVPs and Hall of Famers.

An opinion that clearly did not leave Barkley unmoved. So, after putting himself in the Bucks’ shoes and imagining the ideal trade according to him, Sir Charles castigated the speeches that abound in this dossier, according to which Giannis must change air at all costs:

Charles Barkley: I agree with that 100%. It annoys me to hear people say on TV, “It’s time for Giannis to go now that the Bucks aren’t winning.”

I’m like, “Wait, you never said that about me! You never said that about Patrick Ewing!” These days, you have to help players win titles. In my day, nobody said, “They’re ruining Charles Barkley’s bonus” when I was playing in Philly! (…) This notion that a great player should leave when his team is no longer winning, I hate that. I’ve always hated it.
