The Spurs will be one to watch closely in the years to come, with a franchise that remains ambitious and above all promising. But can the organization win a title quickly? Internet users discussed the subject.

Like many other franchises, the Spurs have a decision to make with the draft in June. The front office was lucky to get that second pick, but it comes with some pretty big dilemmas, at least on the surface. Executives can choose to take a young player with it, or else recruit a superstar on the open market.

And with Giannis Antetokounmpo potentially available, the timing is arguably right for San Antonio. But with a roster that’s still relatively young, inexperienced and hasn’t reached the playoffs, one has to wonder about recruiting the Greek Freak. Wouldn’t it be a case of rushing in to try and compete for the title?

Spurs on course for the title?

That’s the case for many internet users, who now feel that San Antonio needs to stall. They have Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and even Dylan Harper, who should be selected in June at the draft. A young trio to bank on for the future, and maybe win a title in the next 5 years. But it’s far from a done deal.

That’s precisely the question posed by a large account on Twitter this Thursday: can San Antonio dream of winning this championship in the more or less near future?

@RTNBA : “The San Antonio Spurs will win a Championship within the next 5 years. Agree or Disagree?”

It’s too early to say, but the potential is there, especially with Wembanyama and the forthcoming front office recruitment. But we’ll have to make the right choices in the marketplace.

@heynavid : “Wemby 26 Castle 25 Harper 24 + Good FAs = Very fun team in 5 years”

@SarkisReigns : “I think they’ll at least 2-peat with 5 years”

@Vanaaxus : “No, I don’t think wemby will stay healthy.”

The talent is there at the Spurs, but as we can see, some people still doubt the health of Wembanyama, who has been out since February after his blood clot. Is this just bad luck for the Frenchman, or a harbinger of bad things to come? There’s no way of knowing. But if Wemby continues to shine, Spurs can be counted on to win the championship very quickly.
