Lacking a young superstar on the roster, the Wizards have several highly promising talents, including Frenchman Bilal Coulibaly. But with the draft approaching, some fans seem ready to write him off to move up the draft order.
Everything moves very fast in the NBA, and this 2024-2025 season was proof of that. Although he wanted to make his career with the franchise, and had just taken his Mavericks all the way to the Finals, Luka Doncic was nonetheless evacuated and transferred by his managers. This trade deadline could mark a turning point in the history of the league: nobody is untouchable anymore.
And the Wizards players could soon learn that. While the team had a strong chance of landing the first pick of the draft and thus welcoming Cooper Flagg, a talent heralded as generational by the experts, they will have to make do with pick n°6 in the end. After seeing their franchise suffer one defeat after another, the fans are having a hard time accepting it.
Bilal Coulibaly traded before the draft?
Bilal Coulibaly traded before the draft – which is why some are already imagining possible trades to move up the draft order. This is how Frenchman Bilal Coulibaly found himself in discussions that would have been unimaginable just a few months ago. Despite his progress, he is no longer seen as an essential element for the future.
I would jump at the opportunity to trade Bilal, the 6th pick and 18th pick for Harper. Wemby reunites with Bilal and we don’t have to put our chance of getting a superstar prospect in the hands of Silver’s rigged lottery in 2026.

The Wizards had high hopes of picking up an exceptional talent in this draft, which will be harder to do outside the top 5. That’s why some want to negotiate with the Sixers, who are open to discussion, or even with the Spurs. Bilal Coulibaly, considered untouchable in his first season, has been thrown into the projections, which doesn’t please everyone.
Just got here and I'm seeing people talking about moving Bilal for #3 pic.twitter.com/nXhtE2q2QJ
