No Western Conference final for the Nuggets, who were dominated by the Thunder on Sunday evening. And after the game, Nikola Jokic was quickly mocked by some on the web for his performance.
And in the end, it’s the Thunder who come out on top against the Nuggets and after a one-sided Game 7. Oklahoma City easily got the job done on Sunday night, winning 125-93. Denver weren’t helped by bad luck with Aaron Gordon’s hamstring injury, but their performance was truly disappointing in the end.
There will probably be major changes over the summer, for example when it comes to thinking about the future of Russell Westbrook, who has alternated between good and bad in Colorado. Jamal Murray didn’t shine either, with 6/16 shooting and just 13 points, while Nikola Jokic received similar treatment.
Nikola Jokic criticized for his performance
With 20 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, the possible MVP had some pretty good statistics, close to a triple-double. But with only 9 shots attempted in Game 7 and 5 turnovers, he didn’t shine for his team either. Last week, some wondered whether the Serb was injured.
Disappointment for the player, even if he has the perfect remedy for the next few days and after the elimination:
Nikola Jokic : “There will probably be plenty of beer.”
In the end, the coach’s dismissal didn’t do much good when you consider the final result, which angered a lot of fans. Others widely criticized Jokic’s performance, which should have been better for a Game 7.
@omgitsbirdman : “Appreciate the work of Jokic’s communication team after his horrible performance like last year in this Game 7. They’d do anything for this guy.”
@lukabetter77_ : “9 shots in Game 7 lol”
Yes, the fans didn’t appreciate the player’s 9 little shots, who needs to take control of the match given what’s at stake. What’s done is done, and now it’s time to find solutions for this summer. But given the defeat, the change of coach and company, the Nuggets’ squad could undergo some major changes in the coming months.
Jokic is obviously safe, but that’s not the case for all his team-mates. It promises to be a complicated off-season for fans.
