No title this season for the Celtics, who were overtaken by the Knicks in the second round of the playoffs. A largely deserved victory, but for LeBron James, this team’s behavior is almost astonishing.
Among the favorites to win the title this season and make it a double, the Celtics will not achieve their goal. The franchise came up against a tougher opponent, with the Knicks putting in a strong performance. Jayson Tatum’s injury made little difference in the end, especially as New York was already poised to take a 3-1 lead into the second round of the playoffs.
And it will be interesting to see how the summer goes for them. For while the ambition remains to win, let’s not forget that Tatum’s injury is very serious and will force him to miss almost 9/10 months, or even more in the worst-case scenario. This will have an impact on the next campaign, and Massachusetts fans are obviously worried about the future.
LeBron James surprised by Celtics behavior
Jaylen Brown and his teammates will have to find solutions, but some are already preparing for major changes this summer. The franchise could replace Tatum right away, or take a step back until the star returns. We imagine that LeBron James will be watching this closely, as he was surprised.
For if the Knicks have been superior in these playoffs, have the Celtics really managed to exploit their potential in this campaign? Not really, according to the Akron native, who spoke out in the latest episode of his podcast. And according to him, the Celtics… are bored. That’s why the franchise seems to have simply regressed.
LeBron James : “Sometimes you get the impression that the Celtics are bored… I don’t mean because of the process, because they are who they are. When you see Jaylen Brown, it’s years of work. But sometimes you get this impression that they get bored because of how great they are.. Especially as a team.”
The Celtics won the title last year, and we know that some franchises have trouble getting back into the regular season afterwards. So will any players agree with the King’s assertion? It’ll be interesting to ask, but we imagine Boston fans won’t necessarily disagree.
