With the draft just around the corner, we’ll be keeping a close eye on how the Spurs fare on the open market. The franchise is set to add a new talent to its roster, giving fans hope for the 2026 campaign.
June will be a major month for the Spurs, with an important decision to be made with the draft. It’s time to pick up a new young prospect, and according to most insiders, it’s Dylan Harper who should be chosen in Texas. It has to be said that, behind Cooper Flagg, Harper is the one most often singled out by observers.
Another young player for the Spurs, who have already won the last two rookies of the year with Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama. Is a hat-trick possible? Certainly, at least if Harper can find his place in San Antonio. And given the current squad, it won’t be easy either.
Playoffs in sight for the Spurs?
For while Harper has the talent and potential to become a true NBA star, his profile is very similar to that of Castle and De’Aaron Fox. Backs who need the ball to exist. A real headache for the staff, but the fans want to keep hope alive for next season. For many, the playoffs will finally be upon us.
But for this to happen, Victor Wembanyama will also need to return to form. The staff is hoping he’ll be back from training camp, but that hasn’t been confirmed. We don’t even know if he’ll be able to take part in EuroBasket with Les Bleus. Despite some logical concerns, fans are confident that 2026 will be a good season.
@RealPjHops : “The Spurs’ next season is going to be crazy! The playoffs are coming!”
@Bxnd0c : “Imagine if we managed to win the championship and the ROTY for the third time in a row.”
@GervinTwittiot : “We’re going to need a strong 4 though”
As we said, the rookie of the year is possible with Harper’s talent. Let’s not forget that Flagg will probably be playing with the Mavericks, with many stars alongside him. For the title in San Antonio, on the other hand, it seems too early for such a team. In order to give young players time, the franchise will probably be able to start dreaming in 3/4 years’ time. Beware, however, of a possible major trade between now and then.
