Often criticized for his comments, Charles Barkley didn’t shine this Sunday evening when commenting on the game between the Knicks and Pacers. A failed statement for the consultant, who was widely mocked.

New York had a scare in Indiana on Sunday night, but Tom Thibodeau’s men came away with a win. They won by a score of 106-100 and are still hopeful of qualifying for the Grand Final in a few weeks’ time. But for that, they’ll also need to win Game 4 to avoid finding themselves in a difficult situation.

The Knicks can certainly do it, even if they had to rely on a big hot streak in this fourth quarter: that of Karl-Anthony Towns, author of 20 units. It’s a good thing the pivot was there, especially as Jalen Brunson again had problems with fouls on his side. But the most important thing was to win.

It’s a great morale booster, even if winning Game 4, still in Indiana, will be far from easy. At the very least, we can be satisfied with an exciting, tight series for the time being, even if Charles Barkley had seen things differently on his side. For him, defeat was a foregone conclusion for the Knicks.

New York trailed by as many as 20 points in Game 3, including 13 at half-time. So for Barkley, there was no more suspense:

Charles Barkley : “The Knicks made a lot of mistakes on the court. I’ve hated the coaching staff from the start. The first two games were interesting, but this third one is already over. The Knicks can’t play fast against the Pacers, and yet that’s what they need to do to win.”

1 hour after this statement, the Knicks finally won this game and with a great reaction from the players.

@JohnnyMurica: “He also said the Wolves were going to get swept after the Game 2 loss”

@badandy237: “Obviously, Charles Barkley jinxed it.”

No win for the Pacers, perhaps because of Charles Barkley for the few superstitious fans. But if we were to list all the times the Chuck has been wrong, we’d probably be in for a few months. It’s not for nothing that some Knicks fans are asking him to bet on a Pacers win for Game 4.
