The Spurs will be recruiting this summer, and it remains to be seen whether the franchise plans to hit the ground running. In any case, they are listed in a number of files, the latest of which leads to Canada. A series to follow.
Interested in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant according to some insiders, the Spurs are likely to play it safe. According to ESPN, it looks like the Texans will select Dylan Harper with their second pick in the draft, rather than use this valuable asset in a major trade.
We don’t know if it’ll be the same with the 14th pick, also owned by the Spurs, but the front office wants to be patient. The aim is probably to develop young players with veterans such as Chris Paul. Between Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and Harper, the future looks bright.
A young recruit for Spurs?
But that doesn’t mean a trade isn’t in the works in San Antonio. The franchise could arrange a trade according to Cris Davis, who confirms that RJ Barrett would be close to the exit in Toronto, a few years after his trade from the Knicks. And guess who’s listed among the interested teams?
Yes, the Spurs, among other franchises. So, no big announcement for the moment, but things could very well get moving in the draft, for example, as Barrett is still considered a promising player. His statistics? 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists at the age of 24. He would therefore be within the norm for the Spurs squad.

Knowing that the Spurs are looking for a player on the wing, potentially to replace Harrison Barnes, then Barrett’s presence would be excellent news. But everything will depend on the counterparty to be sent in return, especially as the Raptors will probably be greedy. A new soap opera to follow closely before the draft, which takes place on June 25.
