While she enjoys a fairly high level of popularity across the league, Caitlin Clark still seems to be a source of considerable controversy among her peers. Brittney Griner, in particular, attracted a lot of negative buzz after insulting the sophomore during a game.
The WNBA has discovered a golden goose in Caitlin Clark since her draft last year. The Fever point guard isn’t just a hit on the court, she’s also given the women’s league unprecedented media coverage. There’s never been so much talk about it as there has been since the young player’s arrival.
However, don’t think everything is rosy for the reigning Rookie of the Year. Indeed, all this doesn’t necessarily please the other WNBA stars who don’t hesitate to heckle her on the court, with Clark being the target of several very serious fouls last season. And more recently, it was Brittney Griner who outright insulted her:

Trash f***ing white girl !
As we know, Clark arouses jealousy among some players because of the treatment she receives. This applies to both active and retired players, proving that she is still far from being unanimously popular. However, does that justify insulting her by attacking her skin color in passing, as she has always been very respectful towards her African-American peers? Not sure that’s the case.
Unsurprisingly, Griner has faced a fierce backlash, having been imprisoned in Russia for a long time before being released in exchange for an arms dealer. What is equally unacceptable, however, is the gratuitous and shameful criticism that has been heaped upon the Phoenix Mercury star:
@Riley_Gaines_ : Brittney Griner appeared to call Caitlin Clark “trash” and a “f***ing white girl” after fouling out last night. Just a reminder: this is who we traded for the Russian Merchant of Death. Now imagine if Clark had said the inverse.
@scott_borror : Why are they still allowing a man to play in a woman’s league?éminine ?
