Beaten by the Thunder, the Wolves need to take stock in the coming weeks to give this squad a boost. But the front office must also be prepared to lose members over the course of the off-season.

Back in the Conference Finals this year, the Wolves are still unable to turn the corner on the other side. Despite making a few adjustments with the arrival of Julius Randle, Anthony Edwards and his team-mates just can’t seem to get it right, and must now be wary of trades. After all, their GM is a specialist, having been responsible for the arrival of Rudy Gobert.

Unfortunately for them, the franchise couldn’t quite pull it off with the final victory. One imagines that the executives will meet again soon to discuss possible recruits, with Kevin Durant already widely mentioned in Minnesota to help Edwards. It has to be said that the organization needs another star.

Imminent loss for the Wolves?

Recruiting players is a good thing, but so is retaining others. With Nickeil Alexander-Walker on the move, many fans are hoping he’ll agree to stay, as will Naz Reid. So important coming off the bench, and sometimes in a starting role, Reid should decline his option to become a free agent this summer.

A surprise? No. In fact, fans and management have been prepared for this for some time. Reid has a $15 million player option, and given his performance, he can already expect a nice raise this summer. Jake Fischer confirms that Reid will soon be on the market, and there will be a battle to sign him.

Jake Fischer : “Randle holds a $30.9 million player option that he must exercise or decline by June 29. Reid has his own $15 million option that many around the league expect last season’s Sixth Man of the Year to decline.”

Not surprising given the salary and his performances, which don’t match up. A return to Minnesota is likely for many fans, but one question remains: does Reid want to continue coming off the bench or does he want to become a potential starter? Knowing that the Wolves have Gobert and Randle, a choice may have to be made.
