Determined to find new players to help Luka Doncic, the Lakers have quite a few targets in their sights. And to achieve their goal, the franchise is even thinking of bringing back an old hand to bounce back. A good idea for them?

Disappointed by the last playoffs, the Lakers aren’t too worried about the organization’s future either. The Luka Doncic trade changed many things within the franchise, starting with the departure of Anthony Davis. Without his dominance in the racket, particularly in defense, the Angelinos were left with quite a gap that Rob Pelinka was unable to fill.

There was the trade of Mark Williams in an attempt to bring a boost to the racket, but the exchange was ultimately cancelled by the California front office, and for a totally unknown reason. The Lakers didn’t go into details, but the decision did cause a bit of a ruckus. JJ Redick was left with only Jaxson Hayes to try and limit the damage.

A possible reunion for the Lakers this summer?

And with the possible departure of Hayes in the next few weeks, Pelinka may need to recruit two centers to help his organization. Nic Claxton is a potential target, as is Daniel Gafford from the Mavericks. But a return isn’t impossible at all, as the Bucks are reportedly willing to let Brook Lopez walk on the open market this summer.

Lopez has played for the Lakers in the past, although clearly in a different era. His return could be good news for their defense, as he knows how to counter, while his three-point shot would come in handy. But would he be the perfect complement to Doncic on a basketball court? It’s not necessarily obvious. But for Jake Fischer, he’s a sure-fire target for the off-season.

Jake Fischer : « The Lakers have long been fans of Lopez, sources say. That doesn’t guarantee they will pursue him again, but the Lakers are indeed expected to be a player in the center market this summer. »

The Lakers need a center, Lopez is available and will be coveted: it’s hard to believe that the franchise won’t try to contact the player, at least to get some information. There are plenty of leads on the market and Lopez isn’t the latest rumor, but his return could be appreciated by some of the fans this summer. He has the necessary experience, but it remains to be seen whether he will ask for a contract that is too onerous for the Purple and Gold.
