The Suns are now doing their utmost to find a new team for Kevin Durant before the draft if possible. But as negotiations continue, Charles Barkley is clearly not a big fan.

Barring a turn of events, all indications are that Kevin Durant will be traded in the next few weeks, surely before the June 25 draft according to Shams Charania. Phoenix wants assets for the next draft and wants the best possible consideration from the Spurs, Knicks or any franchise interested in bringing him in.

However, the Suns don’t want to get upset with Durant either, regardless of whether he leaves or not. It’s a question of respect towards the star, but it’s also a way of making themselves look good to the other players. So we learn that the franchise is working with KD’s partner to find him a good exit door, one he’s happy with.

According to some journalists, Durant would like to sign with the Spurs, which is why the Suns are talking to them. The Wolves, Heat and Rockets are other franchises to follow in this soap opera, but KD will have his say. But all that could change at any moment, as the Suns are under no obligation to listen to their incoming player.

The front office could very well decide to send Durant based on the best consideration received, regardless of the individual’s preference. An attitude that could cause controversy, but one that doesn’t bother Charles Barkley in the slightest. In a recent broadcast, he believes that the Suns are not adopting the best tactics in this matter.

Charles Barkley : “I hear that the Suns are working with Kevin Durant for his trade or something, and I think no, you don’t have to work with him. You have to find the best deal for the team. He’s only got one year left on his contract. He’s 37 years old. You might not get a lot, but someone could be st*pid and give you a lot.”

Could Spurs, or another team, crack down on this soap opera by giving a hefty quid pro quo? It’s not out of the question. San Antonio isn’t pressed for time, but the Wolves are known to be actively seeking help for Anthony Edwards. Barkley isn’t the only one in the league to think so.
