While Caitlin Clark is a boon to the WNBA, the treatment she receives on the court may outrage some. George Eddy took to social media to vent his anger after the latest controversy.
In the NBA, Victor Wembanyama has proven he has what it takes to become the league’s next star. Caitlin Clark has done even better in women’s basketball, taking on the role as early as her rookie season in 2024. Since her draft, the WNBA has enjoyed unprecedented media attention and seen its revenue skyrocket. There’s no doubt about it, the Fever point guard is its new megastar.
This was also true during her injury absence for a few days, as the league’s ratings plummeted during that time. Luckily for Indiana and the WNBA, CC is back in business… unfortunately, it also means the controversies surrounding her have returned to the forefront, though she was in no way responsible for them.
George Eddy calls for WNBA intervention for Caitlin Clark
This has been a problematic issue since she turned pro: Clark has a target on her back with other players who don’t hesitate for a moment to play much harder against her, even if it means going too far. This is what happened again recently against Connecticut, infuriating the famous commentator George Eddy:
Ceci doit absolument cesser! https://t.co/v3Hx7veBfG

This has to stop!
Currently, no other player in the WNBA is subjected to the same physical treatment Clark receives. Failing to intervene would risk her being seriously injured, which would be a disaster for the league. This is also why Fever fans were delighted to see teammate Sophie Cunningham avenge her later in the game, proving that the sophomore doesn’t have to fend for herself:
