Kevin Durant’s future is now clear, having been traded to the Rockets a few days ago. Fresh off his NBA championship with Oklahoma City, Jalen Williams has also given his opinion on the move.
We’re now entering one of the most exciting phases of the NBA calendar. The 2024-25 season is officially over with the Thunder winning the Finals, but the league is preparing to experience two major events in the coming days. First, the draft, which will take place on Thursday, June 26, and second, the opening of free agency, when players like Giannis Antetokounmpo could be traded.
However, the Rockets didn’t wait until then to finalize their first major move on the market. Eager to boost Ime Udoka’s roster, the management struck hard by negotiating with the Suns to acquire Kevin Durant. Second in the West during the regular season but eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, the Texans now intend to fight for the title thanks to the experience and talent of the two-time champion.
Jalen Williams gives his opinion on the Kevin Durant trade
The Slim Reaper may be 36 years old, but he’s still one of the league’s best players, and his departure from Phoenix is a mini-earthquake throughout the NBA. Jalen Williams gave his very honest opinion on the former Oklahoma City superstar, fresh off his championship run with the Thunder:
Obviously, wherever KD goes, he’s gonna change the way a team plays for the better, so it’s always good having more and more competition in the West. And Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks stayed in the West too, so we accept all challenges. But I couldn’t care less about what’s going on in the NBA besides our parade and the rest of my week.
While not necessarily particularly concerned by current league news, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s right-hand man seems nonetheless delighted to see the 2014 MVP remain in the same conference. However, his statement about Durant’s impact on his teams makes no sense to his many detractors:
@Damianm410s: Kd has been the kiss of death on every team where he is the main star
@NewHouse_NM: J Dub, bless him. Too much champagne. Cause everywhere KD goes, he gets better for himself while the team becomes worse
@anisi6996: Ya that’s what suns fans thought till kd started to play less and less games
