Captain of the French basketball team at the Paris Olympics, Nicolas Batum only lost to the USA in the final. It was all down to Stephen Curry, who made a funny confession to Batum afterwards.
Almost a year on, some fans are still having a hard time letting go. In any case, the French basketball team’s defeat in the final of the Paris Olympic Games remains a heartbreaker for many Les Bleus fans. Helpless despite some fine defending on that memorable action, Nicolas Batum has since regularly had to evoke the subject with a still bittersweet taste in his mouth. He has done so again in recent hours in The Young Man and the Three:
Nicolas Batum: Generally, when something negative happens to you on the pitch, you don’t want to revisit it afterwards.
I’ve seen this play several times now, and each time I ask myself, “How did he do it? How did he get that out?” It was crazy. But I can say I was on the floor! It’s also a point of pride to have been part of that moment because my country and I gave everything to win, and they had to do that to beat us. This guy had to make the craziest two minutes of his life.
Heckled by France, Team USA had to rely on Curry’s genius to go for the gold medal and get out of the trap set by Batman & Co. Customary of these exceptional shots, Steph would nevertheless have admitted to the French captain not really knowing how he managed to register this one:

I went to the press conference just after taking a doping test. Because yes, it wasn’t just Steph who was tested, there were three or four Frenchmen who were tested too. Anyway, we bumped into each other at the time, and I asked him how he’d managed to do it, to which he confessed he had no idea! We joked about it together, but it’s one of those moments in history that you just can’t explain.
