For the second season in a row, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves were eliminated from the conference finals. Is this enough to frustrate the fullback? Enough to make him angry? Clearly not, if a video posted on his YouTube channel is anything to go by. He showed immense maturity.

In this draft season, it’s worth remembering the controversy surrounding Anthony Edwards when he came out of Georgia. While his talent was indisputable, his attitude posed a problem for many observers and fans alike. For example, because he quite openly declared that he preferred American soccer to basketball, it was legitimate to wonder whether he would be fully committed to his career.

Today, these questions seem totally irrelevant, given the strength and dominance of the Timberwolves fullback. An outstanding athlete, he has worked on his game to the point of becoming as effective a trigger as Stephen Curry, the king of outside shooting. What’s more, Ant-Man is pretty cool, making him one of the league’s potential faces.

Anthony Edwards’ reaction to the Thunder revealed

At the age of 23, he has just lived through two consecutive conference finals, against the Mavericks and then the Thunder, but always with the same result. Minnesota still can’t seem to get over the hump, a fact that could have frustrated or irritated him. But in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Anthony Edwards was quite relaxed after his team’s elimination:

“My fifth season is over. I got my ass kicked. KFC. UFC. USC. OKC in five games. I’m not going to make excuses, they whipped us. You can’t be pissed off. You have to know how to win like a boss, and lose like a boss. But I don’t have any competition with Team USA this summer, so it’s the first time in two years that I’ll really be able to work on my game. Think about it. We’ll be hunting them next year.”

Anthony Edwards isn’t a nonchalant player; he showed a great deal of maturity on this occasion. Why get angry when the Thunder were better as a team? Why get frustrated when the Timberwolves gave 100% in this conference final, even if it wasn’t enough? The fullback acknowledges his defeat and looks forward to his comeback.

What’s terrifying for the rest of the league is that he’ll have all summer to improve on his weaknesses and perfect what he already does well. Last season, while he was busy preparing for the Olympic Games with Team USA, he managed to explode his 3-point address. The Anthony Edwards of the new season could be legendary.
