Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese to kick off the season? The WNBA knew what it was doing this Saturday night. And after a thrilling game, LeBron James didn’t hesitate to speak out. And that’s no mean feat for the fans.

The WNBA season is now well underway, with a fine victory for the Fever over the Sky this Saturday evening. It has to be said that Caitlin Clark is on a mission to win her first title on the other side of the Atlantic, so she managed to chalk up a nice triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, surpassing Angel Reese and her 12 units, as well as 17 rebounds.

It’s not yet clear whether the Fever will have a real chance of winning the title, but fans are hopeful. For many, the most important thing was to get the better of Reese, who has made a number of tackles against the player since her arrival in the WNBA. But on the pitch, it’s hard to say that the rivalry is really there.

LeBron James decides between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese

In fact, a Fever fan account didn’t hesitate to mention it after the big win, by a score of 93-58 for the record.

@TheIndianaFever : “It was never a rivalry from the start.”

And tackles like these against the Sky and Reese are absolutely everywhere on the web now. It has to be said that the indoor player isn’t much appreciated for her behavior, including by LeBron James fans.

The reason? To better understand, we have to go back to a tweet from the 2021 playoffs. At the time, an Internet user had pointed out that LeBron didn’t have enough help to hope to win, when Reese spoke up:

@Reese10Angel : “No, LeBron was no help…”

A direct tackle on the Akron native that has stuck in the minds of Internet users ever since. It’s not for nothing that James is a Clark fan.

Since her arrival in the WNBA, Clark has been supported by James, unlike Reese. That was the case again this Saturday:

@KingJames : “Triple-double for Caitlin Clark!!! What a way to start the season!”

A simple message of support, but for fans, it’s above all a way of making their preference for the Fever player clear. Others also point out that Clark is part of the Nike family.

@casualtakeking : “LeBron James going to always keep those Angel Reese receipts with all due respect”

@jeonghansfoot : “did you guys expect lebron to tweet angel reese when the sky lost by 35 points”
