Fresh from being voted the NBA’s “most overrated player”, Tyrese Haliburton is showing in these playoffs that he’s also the most clutch. Author of another game-winning shot against the Cavaliers on Tuesday, the point guard indulged in a celebration that could cost him dearly.
Voted NBA’s most overrated player by his peers, Tyrese Haliburton decided to use these playoffs to prove wrong those who voted against him. Already a force to be reckoned with against the Bucks, the point guard went one better in this semi-final against the Cavaliers. On Tuesday, he gave his team victory on a legendary sequence. Indiana are now just two wins away from another conference final.

Tyrese Haliburton talks about his controversial celebration
What makes it even more poetic for Tyrese Haliburton is that the Rocket Arena crowd took great pleasure in chanting “overrated” at him all evening. Perhaps this explains his rather vulgar celebration, as he showed everyone the size of his private parts. It’s a subject that came up in the press conference.
I was fed by the audience’s chants against me.I honestly didn’t know there was any tension between them and me.Good for them if they want to sing, even if it comes out of nowhere. Now that “overrated” has been used to describe me, it’s going to follow me on every move. At least until the next poll, and then we’ll see where I stand in the rankings.
I’m going to control what I can control, and in any case, it’s going to be hard to overcut this shot. I was waiting for the right moment to bring out the “big balls” celebration. I was waiting impatiently. I let myself be carried away by the moment. I accept with great pleasure the fine that’s coming.
The NBA doesn’t like obscene gestures, and even more so when they’re made live on national television. Tyrese Haliburton may well be fined for his celebration, but it was well worth it. Besides, who can argue with the fact that he’s got a “big pair” when you look at his performances since the start of the playoffs? It’s already the second time this campaign that he’s given his team victory with a last-second basket.
