It’s now a tradition in the NBA: one or more young Frenchmen should be in the spotlight at next month’s draft. In fact, according to one American specialist, it’s a Frenchman who could emerge as the big revelation of the draft.
In just over a month from now, the traditional NBA draft will take place, a ceremony where dozens of young talents from all over the world will realize their dreams. For the franchises, it’s an opportunity to find a nugget who will contribute to their future success and perhaps establish themselves as a superstar. With the first or 41st pick, it’s possible to hit the jackpot.
Once again this year, several French players should be in the spotlight. After Victor Wembanyama and Zaccharie Risacher, there will be no new French 1st pick, but there will be youngsters with more than interesting potential. Nolan Traoré, long rumored to be at the top of this crop, has already shown great promise, as has Noa Essengue.
Noah Penda as good as Ace Bailey ?
And according to American journalist Logan Adams, who specializes in college basketball, there’s a Betclic Elite revelation who would be well up there with V.J. Edgecombe and Ace Bailey, even though he’s announced at the end of the first round or the beginning of the second. He doesn’t understand the difference in treatment and expectations around the three prospects concerned:
There’s a guy who’s 6’7”, 225 lbs and 20 years old that does pretty much everything better than two of the solidified top four guys in this class, yet he’s being mocked in the late first-early second.

The player this journalist is talking about is Le Mans winger Noah Penda, who averaged 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 stocks this season. Stats recorded in a professional league, not in the NCAA, which should make them even more valuable. It’s true that in the highlights, there’s some very good stuff.
Best game of the season for Noah Penda. 18 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 blocks for the projected 1st-round pick.
