The Lakers will be looking to bolster their ranks this summer, possibly with a trade. But while the future of one player seems to be up for debate in the City of Angels, Internet users can’t make up their minds.

After a debacle against the Wolves, and not necessarily because of the absence of a simple pivot, the Lakers will have some choices to make in the coming weeks. So yes, Rob Pelinka will have to find a post 5 to revive the Angelinos in the future, but the attitude wasn’t crazy either for JJ Redick’s men, not to mention the defense.

To say that the only problem is the absence of a pivot is to do the Lakers a disservice. The franchise still has a lot of work to do to try and win another title, especially for one of LeBron James’ last campaigns in the league. On the bright side, Luka Doncic is here now and should be even better for 2026.

A desired trade for the Lakers this summer?

But Pelinka has decisions to make, and not just on the identity of the future pivot. Many fans are calling for the departure of Austin Reaves, who disappointed in the first round of the playoffs. He’s a good player with very good statistics, but he’s struggling to step up in the important moments at the moment. And that’s a problem.

Using him in a trade could be a good idea, especially if the Lakers can get a really good player in return, like a pivot or an all-around player like Derrick White. The Celtics player is on his way out this summer, and is being tracked by the Warriors. But for this account, the Lakers should also join the party.

@VinoUncorked : “If you’re the Lakers, are you trading Reaves for White?”

@Klutch_23 : “Easily”

@BronGotGame : “would fit perfectly on the roster”

So we don’t know if the trade works with NBA rules, but fans are for it, while others want to keep Reaves. Let’s not forget, though, that Reaves will be drawing a hefty salary on his next contract, and in terms of defense, he’s simply not up to scratch. Suffice to say, the Angelinos can probably do better.
