Although the Lakers hope to win the title this season, the franchise has made many mistakes in the past. There’s Ivica Zubac, but he’s not the only fiasco for this organization, which has made one failure after another.
With Luka Doncic and LeBron James, the Lakers will obviously be aiming for the championship in the years to come. It’s the least they can do for their fans, who are now counting on Rob Pelinka to do what’s necessary in the Western Conference. They’ll need to find the resources to surround the Slovenian in the off-season.
We’re thinking of recruiting a pivot given the failure against the Timberwolves, but we’re also told that Pelinka would like a really good defender on the wing. Admittedly, the Purple and Gold also have problems in this area of the game. And that’s where the fans’ frustration comes in, especially with Alex Caruso.
The Lakers fiasco on the market
The franchise has made many mistakes over the years. Extending Talen Horton-Tucker, who has since disappeared from the radar, or even the trade of Ivica Zubac for breadcrumbs, initiated by Magic Johnson. But in 2021, the Angelinos committed another monumental blunder by refusing to pay Alex Caruso, who left for Chicago for 37 million over 4 years.
The salary was far from staggering, but the front office didn’t think Caruso was worth the financial effort. An incredible mistake, because since then, whether we’re talking about his performances in Chicago or with the Thunder in the conference finals, the fullback has put everyone in agreement. He would have been fantastic for the Lakers in 2025.
Why did the @Lakers trade Alex

For some Lakers accounts, this is the biggest dud in franchise history, while others don’t forget the shameful Zubac trade with a lunar quid pro quo in return. Whatever happens, it’s clear that Pelinka and Johnson made big mistakes at their positions. And some fans refuse to forget them.
